Shea Butter

Shea Butter

(Butyrospermum parkii (shea) Butter)

Shea Butter is one of the better-known butters, is also known as mother nature’s conditioner because of its excellent moisturizing qualities for the hair and skin.

It is produced by pressing the nut from the Vitellaria paradoxa tree or Karite tree (tree of life), which is native to West Africa.

Our Shea butter is sourced directly from local women in Ghana, who have been using Shea Butter to moisturise dry skin and hair for generations.

Shea Butter is full of essential vitamins and fatty acids like linoleic, oleic, stearic, and palmitic acids. They act as a “refatting” agent, restoring lipids and rapidly creating moisture. It absorbs easily into the skin and scalp and it does not clog the pores. This helps restore the protective layer between your skin and the outside environment. Fatty acids also help increase shine and reduce frizz.

Researchers found that shea butter contains the chemical compound amyrin, which has well-documented anti-inflammatory properties.  It also triggers cytokines and other inflammatory cells to slow down. This makes Shea Butter an excellent scalp treatment and it is well known that shea butter helps your skin reacts less to irritants

Shea Butter is also very rich in Vitamins A and E, which is a fantastic emollient for the skin and hair.
